IHOBF invites eligible middle and high school students to participate in Drawing Us Together, an annual visual arts competition for young and emerging artists.
The 2013 competition includes exhibits at participating House of Blues venues in seven Showcase Cities (Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New Orleans) and online at ActionForTheArts.org.
Competition winners receive cash prizes and special recognition.
COMPETITION THEME Drawing Us Together 2013 welcomes eligible students to create original artworks exploring the power of music to transcend social, cultural, racial, religious, age, and other differences and draw people together to celebrate life’s important moments and events; support one another in times of sorrow and adversity; consider diverse perspectives and traditions; address social concerns and injustice; reflect upon the past; and imagine the future.
ELIGIBILITY The competition is open to residents of the state of California, Illinois, Ohio, Louisiana, Nevada, or Texas who are at least (13) years old and enrolled in either high school or middle school. Eligible students enter the competition in their state of residency and register for either the Emerging Artist Category (eligible high school student) or the Young Artist Category (eligible middle school student).
